Lessons
Welcome! Whether you are contemplating your or your child’s first piano lesson, returning to the piano, or continuing your study, congratulations on your decision to make music a part of your life!
Students of all ages and experience levels are welcome at my studio. My goal is to help each student grow as a musician and to nurture his or her love of music. Lessons focus on topics such as performance, healthy playing techniques, music reading, harmony and chord symbols, improvisation, and ear training. Students study different styles of music, such as jazz, classical and popular music. Lessons are tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. Three to four recitals every year, as well as additional performance opportunities give students a chance to share their music with others or to simply watch other students perform and meet other people who love music.
I have operated my private studio practice since 1993. In addition, I taught at Swain Music Studios from 1996-2001, and I was on the faculty of DePaul University’s Community Music department from 2002-2005, where I taught piano in a program that provided free lessons to foster children in Chicago.
I am currently an active member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Illinois State Music Teachers Association, and the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association.
